Meet Poppy, One of Our New Mobile Libraries!

Our Mobile Outreach Services team has been working hard over the past several months to reshape our outreach library services in response to COVID. We are very excited to be back out in the community serving our members in a safe way with one of our brand new mobile library vehicles nicknamed Poppy.

Our focus has been on establishing services in some of the unincorporated communities and meeting the needs of people who are not likely to visit our physical libraries. Our services so far have been well received and on one of our first days of service we checked out over 200 items and handed out 13 new welcome cards!

What happened to my bookmobile stop?

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, all previous Mobile Library stops have been suspended. We are currently offering limited services in select location. Current mobile library stops will be listed on the website soon. For specific inquiries about the limited stops we’re offering now, please contact our office: 510-745-1477.

What are the services being offered with the mobile libraries?

We are providing a pop-up library service with surprise bundles and welcome cards. We are not yet offering a browsing collection, and no members are allowed on the vehicle.

How do I place a hold to be picked up at a mobile library stop?

Please give our office a call at 510-745-1477 or contact us through AskUs, opens a new window, so that we may assist in placing items on hold for you. MOS is not yet available as a pickup location when placing holds through the public catalog.

My neighborhood needs mobile library service. How can I request this?

Please contact MOS Manager Christina Grove: cgrove@aclibrary.org, opens a new window  510-745-1479

Where is the old bookmobile?

The old bookmobile is going through the county process for vehicle retirement which includes being auctioned. We wish it a happy second life with its new owners!
